Andy Uba Mum As Ngige Urges Him To Surrender

Senator Andy Uba, the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate in the Anambra State governorship election was on Wednesday weighing his options even as APC leader in the state, Senator Chris Ngige urged him and other candidates to sheath their swords and embrace Prof Charles Soludo, the winner of the election.

Sources disclosed to  GreenWhiteGreen GWG that Andy Uba is to take a decision on the election on Thursday following consultations with other stakeholders aligned with him in the campaign.

Indications to this was given by a senior campaign official following the declaration of the result early on Wednesday.

The official while withholding his endorsement of the results as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC early on Wednesday had said:

“the result that was announced was not what we expected. Definitely what happened in many places is not what happened. We have a lot of questions. We do not believe in the entire result and the entire process. We will go back and the campaign will meet with the candidate and take a decision,” the official said.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that Andy Uba’s agent had refused to sign the result as declared by INEC to protest the outcome.

A top source in the Andy Uba campaign disclosed on Wednesday that the candidate and senior stakeholders would meet on Thursday to take a decision on the outcome of the election as declared.

Meanwhile, Senator Ngige has urged Andy Uba and other candidates in the election to embrace Soludo and sheath their swords.

In a congratulatory message he sent, Ngige said:

“Only one person would emerge a winner in this contest, more so, when the seat of the Governor of Anambra State can only be occupied by one person at any given time. I therefore, urge the other candidates to be good losers and join hands with the Governor-elect to give the state the best.”

“As an elder statesman in the state, I have no choice than to irrevocably stand with my dear Ndi-Anambra in their desire for an unfettered freedom to choose their leaders. It is a legacy we must bequeath to the posterity of our people.” 
“Similarly, I urge Professor Soludo to be magnanimous in victory. Time is here for him to reach out to everybody, including those who aspired with him in his APGA, as well as others, who contested on the platforms of other political parties, notably, the PDP, APC, YPP and ZLP, so as to join hands to elevate and restore our state to its enviable position in Igbo land and Nigeria in general. “

“There is no doubt that our dear state, visibly veered off the track of progress since the last three years, when the incumbent Governor started suffering from a second term gubernatorial fatigue.”
