Kano Man Quits Race For APC National Woman Leader

Kano man Amir Sarkee, Thursday stepped down his bid for the national woman leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a meeting with the incumbent national woman leader, Ms. Stella Okotete.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported the vow by Amir Sarkee to contest the office of national woman leader despite the fact that he is a man. He had said that his bid was to enable him push his passion of positioning women in good places in the party and government.

Sarkee revealed that he had decided to step down and push the case for any qualified woman who would push his agenda even as he lamented the way that politicians have continued to use and dump women.

Speaking to newsmen after his meeting with Okotete, he said:

“We need young leaders like Okotete who genuinely loves the people and serving them well in her capacity as the women leader. We are proud of her achievements and I am calling on the party stalwarts to focus on her because she has so.much more to deliver ahead of 2023,” he said.

Welcoming his decision and his support for women, Okotete urged him not relent in his efforts he urged him to do more in advancing the cause of women politically and economically despite him as a man stepping down from the race of the National Woman Leader of the APC.

“I am using this medium to call on our men to support women so they can occupy both party and political positions as we prepare for the national convention and in alignment with the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari who is a gender-friendly president,” she said.
