Things To Know About Late Brig-Gen. Dzarma Zirkusu

News of the death of Brig-Gen. Dzarma Zirkusu who was leading his men on the battlefront when he ran into an ambush set by the enemy is fast spreading.

The said fight which killed Brig-Gen. Dzarma Zirkusu was in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno according to a statement issued by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu.

The fierce encounter which was supported by the Air Component of OPHK had deployed five A-Jet, two A-29, two Dragon combat vehicles and nine Gun Trucks and APC against the terrorists saw the General and others killed in the unfortunate incident.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has deeply commiserated with the families and relations of the fallen heroes.

Below are four things to know about Gen. Zirkusu.

• The deceased was an indigene of Adamawa State.
• In January, he was moved from Headquarters 1 Brigade, Gusau, Zamfara State to headquarters 28 Task Force Brigade, Chibok, Borno State, as Commander.
• Chibok was his last duty post before he was murdered alongside some officers.
• The deceased was the most senior officer to have died in the fight against terrorism.
