Why ISWAP Killed Army General – Senator Ali Ndume

Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume, has disclosed why fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, killed Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu and three soldiers in the state.

Ali Ndume revealed that ISWAP fighters killed Zirkusu to revenge the killing of their commanders by the Nigerian Army.

ISWAP had alongside killed Brig. Gen Dzarma Zirkusu alongside some fighters during a gun battle around Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

While reacting, Ndume said ISWAP fighters killed the Brigadier General because he was a major obstacle to their operations in the area.

Speaking with journalists yesterday, the lawmaker said the terrorists rammed Zirkusu’s vehicle with a bomb-laden car.

According to Ndume: “They know that the general was the major obstacle to their operation. They laid an ambush and rammed a bomb-ladened car into his vehicle.

“The military is aware and the air force is providing surveillance in the area. It was a revenge mission. The army has been taking out key ISWAP commanders and they have their revenge.

“Last week, for instance, they abducted relatives of the Emir of Askira. They also abducted some passengers along that road. If the Army sustains the tempo, we will win this insurgency.”
