Dutch international, Quincy Promes is to be prosecuted for attempted murder and aggravated assault, as per reports in the Netherlands.

In December 2020, the Dutch international was arrested on suspicion of stabbing his cousin at a gathering back in July.

He spent two days in jail before being released but the police investigation continued on until May this year.

Today, it was decided that Promes will be prosecuted and the case will be taken to court. As of yet, there is no word on when exactly the hearing will take place.

According to multiple reports, Promes held a family party at a warehouse in Abcoude and got into an altercation with a male family member.

He is then alleged to have stabbed the individual with a knife and caused serious injuries.

Promes’ lawyer claims he was not on-site when the incident occurred and was “fully cooperating with the investigation” in a statement.

Promes missed Ajax training while under arrest and commented on the matter after returning to the pitch for the Amsterdam outfit in a 4-2 win over ADO Den Haag.

“It was a shock for everyone, but I am glad I was released so quickly,” he told Fox Sports.

“I can’t say more about it. I’m just as shocked as the rest of the world. It is something from my private life, I cannot say more about it.

“It feels good that people believe in me, that helps a lot. I don’t want to waste any more energy on peripheral matters.”

Promes made 50 appearances for Ajax before re-signing for Spartak Moscow in February this year.

The former Sevilla man has been capped 50 times for the Dutch national team and featured at the Euro 2020 tournament in the summer.
