Uzodimma Moves To Resuscitate Imo Health Centres

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State Thursday held a Stakeholders Meeting on Primary Healthcare in the State, chiefly hovering on the resuscitation of already existing and nonfunctional primary health care centres across communities and wards of the State.

The meeting involved the 27 Chairmen of the Traditional Institutions and Community Policing in the State led by HRH Eze E. C. Okeke, (Eze Udo), the 27 Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairmen of the Local Government Areas and their 305 Members/Councillors and representatives of the State Ministry of Health led by the Commissioner for Health with other top Government functionaries.

Speaking at the occasion, Gov. Uzodimma disclosed the readiness of Government to quickly rejuvenate the health centres in the State, craving the indulgence of the community leaders to work in synergy to achieve this in the next one month.

Stakeholders at the meeting

According to the Governor, this singular move is in line with the resolve of his administration to make sure that governance is truly felt at the grassroot, thus making available, basic and affordable medical needs and attention in the rural areas. He therefore, immediately directed the Health and Finance Commissioners  to interface with the Traditional Rulers, IMC Chairmen and their members to assist in identifying these healthcare facilities for rehabilitation and providing local support cognizance with utilizing local content for the execution of the projects.

He also announced plans of Government to commence reconstruction and rehabilitation works on rural roads across the State in the coming days, and to officially inaugurate her security outfit to adequate community policing by the end of the month, while also charging the community leaders to cooperate with them and relevant security and law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and tranquility in Imo especially as we approach the yuletide.
