‘PDP Is Better’, Anambra Lawmaker Dumps APC, Two Months After Defection
Anambra lawmaker, Hon Onyebuchi Offor has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and returned to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) after making the move in the other direction in October.
Hon Offor who represents the Ekwusigo constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly revealed his decision during the plenary session on Thursday.
Anambra State in the run-up to the November 2021 gubernatorial elections experienced a flurry of defections to the APC. With Deputy Governor Nkem Okeke, four House of Assembly members, two Senators, and three House of Representatives members jumping ship to the ruling party.
Offor, who is the House Minority Leader, announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on October 6.
In a shocking turn of events, the Anambra lawmaker announced his return to the PDP, saying the decision was taken after consulting with stakeholders in his constituency.
In a letter announcing his return to PDP, Honourable Offor wrote, ” Two months ago, I announced my defection from PDP to APC on the floor of this house. I have tested the waters and realised that my former party PDP is better.
“So I want to humbly inform this house that I am going back to my party PDP.”
Offor was welcomed back into the PDP fold by his fellow lawmaker, Hon Chuka Ezewunne, member representing the Idemili South constituency.
Ezewunne said, “as a founding member of PDP, I know Hon Offor well and he is a good friend too, though temptation drew him to APC.
