Foursquare Convention: US Decision To Certify Religious Liberty In Nigeria Not From God – CAN President
The president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Dr. Samson Ayokunle CAN has dismissed as faulty and baseless the recent decision of the United States to remove Nigeria from the list of countries of interest for religious persecution.
Speaking at the annual convention of the Foursquare Gospel Church of Nigeria, on Sunday, November 21, 2021, Dr. Ayokunle reiterated his stance that there was no rational evidence to show that persecution against Christians had abated under the Muhammadu Buhari administration to have justified the decision of the US government.
Addressing the convention, he charged Christians in the country to the fact that America may have been founded by God but that the government was not run by God but by human beings who were liable to the vagaries of human behaviour.
“With all the persecutions we have been facing in this country and I have said it nothing has changed,” Dr. Ayokunle said.
Noting that the church in Nigeria has never faced a more difficult time as it is facing, he called for unity and perseverance.
“The church has never faced a more threatening time as at this time. What we need to do is to stand together and if we stand together we will win.
“Let us stand in righteousness, let our people stand out for Christ and a tree cannot make a forest. We are standing there for you. We stand to sacrifice our lives and to stand for Christ. Don’t de-market us. I am there for you, I am a volunteer for Christ. I deserve encouragement not demarketing. Let us stand together let us stand in righteousness,” he said.
Earlier, the General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. Sam Aboyeji had in his sermon urged the brethren on the essence of sacrifice saying that all those looking unto God for great and mighty things must look unto sacrificial giving and living.
The convention was attended by members and guests from across the country and abroad.
