Ten Things To Know About Veteran Actor Baba Suwe

Veteran Nollywood actor, Babatunde Omidina popularly known as Baba Suwe was on Monday 22nd of November pronounced dead.

His death was announced to the general public by his son, Adesola Morenikeji Omidina who shared the details on his official Instagram page.

GWG has taken the liberty to compile ten facts about Baba Suwe who brought a smile to the faces of Nigerians across the globe.

1 Baba Suwe was born on August 22, 1958 in Inabere Street in Lagos Island where he grew up but hails from Ikorodu local government area of Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria.

2. He had his primary education at Jamaitul Islamial Primary School in Lagos and Children Boarding School, Osogbo.

Baba Suwe then proceeded to Adekanbi Commercial High School in Mile 12, Lagos state.

He obtained his West African School Certificate from Ifeoluwa Grammar School in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.

3. He began began acting in 1971.

4. He rose to the spotlight after he featured in a movie titled, Omolasan, a film produced by Obalende.

He became more popular after he featured in Iru Esin, produced by Olaiya Igwe in 1997.

5. He has featured and produced several Nigerian movies such as Baba Jaiye jaiye, a movie that featured Funke Akindele and Femi Adebayo, the son of the veteran actor Adebayo Salami.

6. In 2011, he was accused of cocaine trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. After thorough investigation, the allegation was described as false and defamatory by the ruling of the Lagos high court of law.

7. Baba Suwe has featured in over 300 movies and was known for his comedy acts.

Some of the movies he featured include, Ba o ku, Oju Oloju, Baba Londoner, Ko tan si be, Aso Ibora, Obelomo.

8. In 2019, he arrived in the United States of America for treatment of chronic diabetes.

9. Baba Suwe was 63 when he was pronounced dead.

10. Baba Suwe is survived by children and grandchildren.
