Ayirimi Emami in court

Chief Ayirimi Emami has vowed to pursue his case against what he alleges as the irregular installation of His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III as the Olu of Warri despite his arraignment in court on charges of conspiracy, burglary and theft.

Ayirimi Emami spoke after he got bail when he appeared before a Chief Magistrate Court in Warri, Delta State on Wednesday.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5 had requested his arraignment before the Warri Chief Magistrate on the charges of conspiracy, burglary and theft following the invasion of the palace of the Olu of Warri after the demise of the immediate past Warri monarch, Ogiame Ikenwoli.

Ogiame Ikenwoli had installed Ayirimi Emami as Ologbotsere of Warri, about the fifth person to be so installed with the prestigious title.

Ayirimi Emami had led the opposition against the installation of the former Prince Tsola Emiko as successor to the late Olu, but his opposition was overwhelmed by the larger support the new monarch got.

Emami was alleged to have conspired in the invasion of the palace towards aborting the coronation of the new monarch. The ceremonial crown of the Olu was among items reportedly taken away during the invasion of the palace. Ayirimi Emami has, however, denied the charges.

When Ayrimi Emami appeared before the court on Wednesday he also pleaded not guilty to the three count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing – with reference case No: CR630/2021.

He was granted bail and the case adjourned to January 19, 2022 for further hearing.

Ayrimi Emami while confirming his arraignment in court which he said was instigated by some rival Itsekiri chiefs in an interview with Niger Delta Today vowed that the case would not deter him from pursuing his court actions against the emergence of the new Olu of Warri.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the former Prince Tsola Emiko was installed as the 21st Olu of Warri with the title of Ogiame Atuwatse III on the 21st of August, 2021 amid pomp watched by an awe struck global audience on television.
