Ralf Rangnick Set To Be Announced As Interim Man United Coach

Ralf Rangnick has reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester United to be their interim manager.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was dismissed following United’s 4-1 defeat to Watford last weekend, with Michael Carrick coming in as caretaker boss.

But United made it clear that they would be looking to hire an interim manager to hold the fort until the end of the season, and The Athletic report that they now have their man.

Rangnick is leaving his job as head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow to take up the role.

The report claims the agreement is subject to Lokomotiv agreeing to release him from his contract, but United are understood to not anticipate that to be a problem.

Rangnick has agreed to a six-month deal that will see United through the current campaign, before taking on a consultancy role for a further two years.

Rangnick has previously managed Hannover, Schalke, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig and is considered by many to be the ‘godfather’ of modern coaching in Germany.

Above his achievements as a coach, Rangnick has also been a hugely successful director of football, taking Leipzig from the fourth tier of German football to the Bundesliga.
