NYSC member goes into labour

Plans by a prospective corps member, Olayanju Eniola to partake in the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC scheme were on hold at the weekend after she went into labour during registration exercise at the Oyo State NYSC Camp in Iseyin.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered that the fresh graduate was in the middle of her registration process at the orientation camp on Thursday, November 25, 2021, when the signs of labour kicked in. It was learnt that she was immediately rushed to the General Hospital Iseyin, Oyo State where she gave birth to a baby girl the following day.

The NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe subsequently led a delegation of Principal Camp Officials to the hospital to visit the new mother and her baby. The baby and mother were according to the pictures looking well.

It is not known if the new mother and prospective corps member would continue with the NYSC scheme or have her orientation deferred to another time after she went into labour at the point of registration.

Meanwhile,  GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the Senate Committee on Sports has called for  increase in daily feeding allowance paid to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

This it said was in consideration of the contribution of corps members to national development.

Chairman of the Committee, Sen.Obinna Ogba (PDP-Ebonyi) made the call in Abuja last Tuesday, while submitting the committee’s 2022 budget defence report of Ministry of Sports and Youth Development to Senate Committee on Appropriations.
