Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has approved the appointment of 38 Senior Special Assistants and 96 special assistants following what was announced as the harmonisation of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP structures in the state.

The appointments according to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie followed what was claimed as the harmonization of the structures of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The SSG said:

“Following the harmonization of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by the leaders of the party across Edo, Governor Godwin Obaseki has approved the appointments of 38 Senior Special Assistants and 96 Special Assistants.”

Ogie in the statement issued on Thursday, announced that the 134 appointees were drawn from nine local government areas across the state including Ikpoba-Okha, Owan East, Owan West, Orhionmwon, Ovia South-West, Akoko-Edo, Etsako-West, Etsako-Central and Etsako-East LGAs.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the harmonization exercise aimed at integrating supporters of Governor Obaseki who defected with him from the All Progressives Congress, APC to the PDP in 2020 has been enmeshed in controversy following claims by PDP faithful that there was no constitutional basis for the exercise.

The PDP faithful in opposing it have dragged the party and the governor to court and the matter has yet to be determined.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that party leaders who have been perceived as opposing it including the national vice-chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Orbih who was also the governor’s 2020 campaign manager have been the subject of attack by some associates of the governor.
