Following the 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United, Chelsea also conceded a goal in its 2-1 away win at Watford.
The West Ham goal came in the 40th minute through a penalty taken by Lanzini following the muddle that came after the mess in the Chelsea defence when Jorginho passed the ball to goalkeeper Mendy who was being marked by West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen. In the confusion, Mendy brought down Bowen for what was ruled a penalty.
Lanzini made no mistake with the penalty as Mendy was rooted as the ball went into the net for the first goal conceded by Chelsea to a London team.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Chelsea had earlier taken the lead from a corner kick headed in by Thiago Silva.
It was the first time that West Ham would concede a goal from a corner kick this season.
Mason Mount restored the lead for Chelsea just before the break.
The teams are presently at half time break with Chelsea leading by 2-1.
