An Egyptian football coach has died after he suffered a heart attack while celebrating his team’s last-minute goal that gave his team the win over a second division rival team.

Adham El-Selhadar, 52, was the coach of El-Magd SC had led his team to a crucial league game against El-Zarqa on Thursday, December 2 and the game had dragged on to goalless at the end of 90 minutes.

With everyone almost giving up, his team was able to in the second minute of the extra time pull off a goal that turned the table against the visitors.

Adham El-Selhadar and other club supporters went wild with joy as the 92nd minute goal lifted the team to 14 points and the seventh position in the second division of the league.

However, the celebration among the coaching crew turned awry as Coach Adham El-Selhadar was discovered to have collapsed on the sidelines drawing the attention of players and staff who came to check what had happened.

He was immediately attended to by medics before he was subsequently taken to hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that El-Selhadar had played professional football in the nineties and won the Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup with Ismaily SC before beginning a coaching career.

El Magd have since announced a six-day period of mourning and have also suspended their next fixture against Pioneers FC.
