The chairman of the caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State, Prophet Jones Erue has hit Festus Keyamo, SAN describing him as a WhatsApp politician supposedly without electoral value warning that the party does not have unlimited tolerance for his alleged indiscretions.

Prophet Erue spoke as the internal strife between the Ovie Omo-Agege stream of the party and the Keyamo tendency degenerated after the minister of state for labour and productivity inferred that the new executive of the party comprised of houseboys and house girls of a party leader.

Keyamo did not mention the patron, but he was generally believed to have referred to the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Omo-Agege who has emerged as the leader of the dominant structure of the APC in Delta State.

Keyamo who leads a tendency comprising of senior party chieftains including Olorogun Great Ogboru, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Dr. Alex Ideh, Dr. (Mrs.) Mariam Ali, among others who claim to have been locked out from the process that led to the emergence of the new executive across the different levels of the party in the state.

Speaking at a recent meeting with his fellow stakeholders with Ogboru present, Keyamo had said:

“You can’t carry your houseboys, house girls, and you go one place and say the people have decided in primaries, we say no because those who have decided are your houseboys and house girls.”

Responding, Prophet Erue in a statement articulated by his media aide, Francis Amaechi, while frowning at what he described as the denigrating words used on the members of the new exco, said:

“A Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should not constantly offer juvenile delinquency as a key strength in politics. Constantly insulting the APC and its leadership at both the national and State (Delta) is unbefitting of an APC Minister.

“These extremely bad behaviours by Keyamo are definitely not the best way to thank the APC and President Buhari for giving him the platform and rare opportunity to serve the nation. Keyamo has an option to stop disparaging the APC childishly, as it has been proved again and again that his approach has no validity in law, the rudiments of politics, and truly progressive politics.”

While warning that the party has a limit to bad behaviour, said that “ours is not a party with unlimited tolerance for indiscretion, disloyalty and rascality. Our Constitution provides appropriate disciplinary measures for noisemakers and political eunuchs who add no electoral value whatsoever to us.

“It is the peak of insult for an electorally valueless character who has never ever helped the APC to win any election in even his Polling Unit or Ward to condescendingly refer to the authentic grassroots leaders of our Party in Delta State as “house boys and house girls”.

“We will not allow newspaper tigers and WhatsApp politicians who have done nothing whatsoever to increase APC’s membership strength on the ground and add other gains to the Party in Delta State since the 2019 general elections to create and sustain their false sense of value.”

“It is beyond any shadow of a doubt that Keyamo is a naïve juvenile in the political arena. If not he will not dare to call anyone in the recently elected Delta State Executives of our Party, ably led by Elder (Engr.) Omeni Aruoture Sobotie as “house boys and house girls”. When Festus Keyamo was in elementary school, Elder Sobotie was already a household name in the politics of the old Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States).”

“It is for these reasons and much more that we believe reasonable minds must conclude that Festus Keyamo does not know that naïveté, rascality, careless talking, and disloyalty are not badges of advantage in partisan politics. These poor behaviours have no place in responsible public leadership. We pray he knows these on time before it is too late.”
