Ooni: Divorce From Queen Naomi Is Rumour

Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, has debunked reports of his divorce from his wife, Queen Silekunol

Recall that Queen Naomi had in a post on her Instagram page on Thursday published her divorce from the first-class traditional ruler.

She indicated that her decision to move on was due to irreconcilable differences and not based on the decision of the monarch to marry another queen.

Part of her statement giving reason for the divorce from the Ooni read: “Today I announce the beginning of a new dawn and the close of a chapter. Today, I am a mother to God’s unique gift. I am no longer a slave to my thoughts of perfection. I, at this moment, announce that I shall no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife but as the Queen of the people and mother of my adorable Prince.”

However, in an interview with Vanguard, Ooni’s spokesman, Moses Olafare, said the alleged divorce is a rumour, asking the public to disregard the claim.

He said: “This is not the first time such rumours had been peddled. There was a time it was reported that she left the palace and the next thing, she gave birth. So, the story is not true and it should not be taken seriously.”
