Woman Commits Suicide After Husband Steals Her Savings To Marry Another Wife

A WOMAN working as a teacher in Madziva in Zimbabwe, Auxillia Banda has reportedly committed suicide after she discovered that her husband who is a serving police officer stole cooperative money in her custody to marry a second wife.

The lady is said to have taken poison and died after her husband, took her mukando round money and used it to pay lobola, which is a term for bride price in Southern Africa.

Auxillia Banda reportedly committed suicide after her husband, who is known only as Norman, took the undisclosed amount of money and married another woman.

Auxillia Banda left behind four (4) children who are all girls – who are in Form 2, Grade 7, Grade 4. The youngest of the children is a 2 year old girl.

The deceased had been living in Madziva which is 141 kilometers from the country’s capital and was an O-Level teacher who also taught A-Level mathematics students.

Remarkably, she was about to complete her Masters in Mathematics degree.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi commented on the matter.

“It is true, we have a story about a police officer from the Madziva area who allegedly took his wife’s money and married another woman with it which led to his wife committing suicide. We are in the process of investigating this matter and will fully inform you in the future,” he said.
