Breaking: Wedding Goes Ahead Tuesday As Kidnapped Plateau Bride Is Released

A New Year wedding on the Plateau aborted on Monday after kidnappers abducted the bride, Farmat Paul, on the wedding eve is to hold on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, following the release of the bride.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG has learn the bride was released on Monday.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered that Ms Paul was released on following her kidnap by men who stormed her pastor’s residence where she had lodged on Sunday night prior to the earlier scheduled wedding with Zaphaniah Kosom. The wedding between the two was earlier scheduled to hold on Monday, January 3, 2021 in a Christ Apostolic Church in Ngyong community in Bokkos Local Government Area. The earlier wedding plan was, however, aborted after the kidnap of the bride on Sunday night.

The kidnappers of the bride who stormed the pastor’s house were said to have taken only the bride and were said to have spoken only in Fulani language. The kidnap had kept her fiancé, Kosom in desolation.

It could not be confirmed if a ransom was paid to the kidnappers for the release of the bride but a source in Jos confirmed the release of Ms. Paul adding that the wedding was going ahead on Tuesday.

“The bride has been released and the wedding is going ahead today,” the source said early on Tuesday.

The source, however, was not able to confirm the circumstances of the release of the bride by the kidnappers.

The abduction and release of the bride again raised anxiety about the state of insecurity on the Plateau that has been ravaged by kidnappers and other criminal elements.

It would be recalled that the Plateau State Government had at the end of last year sought to demonise a Vanguard report that alleged patronage of tourist centres in Jos, the Plateau State capital because of the raging insecurity.

The government’s hostile reaction to the report was also contradicted by a statement issued by by Governor Simon Lalong on Monday, January 3, 3032  in which he ordered kidnappers to leave the state.
