We Will Make NNPC Work, New Board Chairman Assures
The Chairman of the newly inaugurated Board of Nigeria’s National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Mrs Margery Okadigbo says the Board is poised to ensure that the company succeeds in all its dealings.
Okadigbo remarked while speaking to Voice of Nigeria, shortly after the inauguration of the Board by President Muhammadu Buhari.
In an interview after her inauguration, she said that the womenfolk in Nigeria will ever remain grateful to President Buhari for appointing women into sensitive positions.
Okadigbo said: “I feel wonderful and I guess I speak on behalf of everybody on the Board. It’s a historic moment and it is something that Nigerians have been looking forward to for a very long time.
“Every woman has a big role in raising a child and this new NNPC is like a new child and we want to grow it, mature it and we intend to take it to the international platform.
“Indeed it is a herculean task but you can see I am flanked on this Board by abled men and women and we will deliver. We will ensure transparency, integrity and loyalty to the nation Nigeria because we deserve to grow this company.
“The Nigerian women are very happy. We have gotten a lot of congratulations because they are excited and all this is thanks to the President for remembering the Nigerian women, we thank him.”
Minister State-Petroleum resources, Timipre Sylva gave the assurance that there would be a harmonious working relationship between the Ministry and the NNPC.
He said: “The NNPC Limited is still within the ministry but of course, it is an independent company that has rules and regulations. We will relate with them to the extent that we want the production level sustained or even improved upon because you know that Nigeria still depends on oil production as a country so, if for example, the level of production begins to go down, we will ask why.”
