Kebbi APC: Aliero Draws Battle Line With Baugudu
Former governor of Kebbi State, Senator Adamu Aliero has drawn the battle line with Governor Atiku Bagudu over the control of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state with a vow that the party would meet its calamity in the state if imposition of party officials is sustained.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Aliero who governed the state between 1999 and 2007 is the leader of a faction of the party that is in rivalry with that controlled by Governor Bagudu.
Speaking during a reception organized for him in Birnin Kebbi, the former governor and minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT lamented that party officials were foisted on the party without election.
Noting the outpouring of supporters for the reception, he said that he was indeed overwhelmed with the turnout for the occasion.
According to him, the turnout indicated that members of the party were not comfortable with the way the party was being run, leading to the imposition of party officials.
Aliero explained that his faction of the APC had opened an office in Birnin Kebbi, the state headquarters, imploring party faithful to open one at their local government headquarters down to the wards level.
“There would be severe consequences if APC in Kebbi State fails to be fair to all.
“During the last congress of the party, some members were selfishly removed as leaders while others were imposed to take over their positions.
“We will not allow that to be and it will remain unacceptable.”
When contacted, the factional chairman of the party in the state, Abubakar Kana Zuru, said there was no imposition in the party as all that are in the leadership positions were duly elected.
