Insecurity Not As Bad As Before – CDS Irabor

The Chief of Defence Staff, Lt-Gen Lucky Irabor has said that the insecurity ravaging the country isn’t as bad as it was before.

CDS Irabor made the statement during a special thanksgiving service to mark this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

He further thanked the Armed Forces for their efforts in bringing peace back to the country.

According to CDS Irabor, “I would like to specially commend members of the armed forces, especially the veterans who laid the foundation on which we are building upon to bring peace and security to every part of the country.

“There are challenges but the challenges are not as much as where we started from. That gives hope for everyone as we go into the year.

“There is ample opportunity to escalate the actions that brought the peace that we now enjoy and also to take it to another level where there would be no need for anyone to live in fear in any part of the country.”

Following the claim by CDS Irabor, some social media users reacted with anger, with some raising issues of daily killing by bandits to counter the Defence Chief’s claim.

@truththathurt_ Look what you are saying as a chief of defence staff. Just imagine. The people and men you are meant to protect are being killed. You are busy doing completion. Oga you have failed. No amount of insecurity is small as long as bandits can still roam freely you have failed and need to sit up
