Iwobi Excluded As Nigeria Name Starting Eleven Against Egypt

The starting eleven for Nigeria in the match against Egypt in the Tuesday super cracker at the Africa Cup of Nations has been released.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles face the Pharoahs of Egypt in what is expected to be one of the most watched matches of the tournament so far on Tuesday evening.

The game will be played at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium and will kick off at 5pm WAT.

The squad list was shared on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development on Tuesday, hours before the kick-off of the game.

Nigeria Starting Eleven Against Egypt

Maduka Okoye (Goalkeeper), Ola Aina, Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong, Zidu Sanusi, Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Substitutes

Daniel Akpeyi (Goalkeeper), Francis Uzoho (Goalkeeper), Tyronne Ebuehi, Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Nwakali, Chidera Ejuke, Umar Sadiq, Henry Onyekuru, Ahmed Musa, Frank Onyeka, Olisa Ndah and Jay Ajayi.

Meanwhile, before the starting eleven was named, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and former deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu sent well wishes to the Nigeria team ahead of the cracker against Egypt.

Sanwo-Olu in his message said:

“As our very own Super Eagles face the Pharaoh of Egypt today, in their first match at the AFCON competition in Cameroon, here’s wishing them the strength, the speed and the agility of an eagle, may they also soar like the eagles they are.

“Lagos and indeed the whole of Nigeria is rooting for them. We’re proud of them, and salute them for their dedication, hard work and resilience.

Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, on his part said his “prayers are with the Nigeria Super Eagles as they begin their campaign at the #AFCON2021 against the Pharaohs of Egypt at the Stade Roumde Adjia, Garoua, #Cameroon. Good luck, Boys. Up Eagles!”
