As APC Convention Crisis Deepens, Oshiomhole Foe, Lukman Resigns As PGF DG
The Director-General of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Salihu Mohammed Lukman, who was particularly pushful in the crisis that made Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to resign as national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resigned his position in the wake of the crisis over the national convention of the party.
Daily Trust reports that Lukman resigned on Monday following a sharp division among the APC governors during their Sunday night meeting in Abuja.
Sources close to Lukman confided in Daily Trust that he has already submitted his letter of resignation to the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Kebbi State Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu.
Our correspondent was hinted that some governors at the meeting wanted Lukman to either resign or be sacked, hence his resignation.
It was gathered that while the majority of the governors wanted him to remain as the forum’s DG, a few others insisted he must go.
Lukman’s phone number was, however, switched off at the time of filing this report when our correspondent called for comments.
He was said to be controversial on issues concerning the party as some of the statements he issued appeared antagonistic to the top echelon of the party.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Lukman who is in his right a chieftain of the party had repeatedly voiced his opinion on several controversial issues and was particularly vocal in the days leading to the ouster of the immediate past national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Lukman had been accused by the Oshiomhole camp of being an instrument of some governors who were positioned against the former national chairman.
