How Chelsea Dominated The Best FIFA Football Awards

The Best FIFA Football Awards 2021 on Monday was an exciting event as various teams and players were honoured for their brilliant performances during the 2020/21 season.
On the night, Chelsea Football Club made the highest appearances more than any team in the award show, scooping up to three awards.
Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel was awarded The Best Men’s Coach of the year, after an incredible first season in charge of the Blues. The German was appointed in January 2021, and just 356 days after he has skyrocketed Chelsea to a different level on the European scene. His stats as coach shows just how justified the award is:
• 65 games
• 36 wins
• The Best FIFA Men’s Coach
• UEFA Men’s Coach of the year
• German manager of the year
• UEFA Champions league
• UEFA Super Cup
• FA Cup Runners up
Thomas Tuchel is also the first Chelsea manager to reach the final of the League Cup, FA Cup, and Champions League.
Chelsea’s goalie Edouard Mendy also picked up an award as The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper of the year. The Senegalese shot-stopper had an outstanding debut season for the Blues as his heroics in between the sticks was Chelsea’s greatest weapon in a brilliant year for them. Since he signed from the French Ligue 1, he’s had some outrageous numbers:
• 50 games
• 29 clean sheets
• 27 goals conceded
• UEFA Goalkeeper of the season
• UEFA Champions League
• UEFA Super Cup
There were also Chelsea’s representatives in other awards as well, as the midfield duo of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho were included in the FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World 11. As for their female team, Chelsea head coach Emma Hayes was named The Best FIFA Women’s Coach of the year after leading them to a domestic treble and becoming the first Chelsea manager to reach the final of the League Cup, FA Cup and Champions League with the women’s team.
