NRC Suspends 8 am Delta Train Service
The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended the 8 am train ride from Ujevwu in Delta from January 17, due to what officials acknowledged as technical glitches.
However, the nature of the technical glitches that may have affected the continued operation of the service which is gaining popularity among stakeholders was not disclosed.
Mr Fidet Okhiria, NRC’s Managing Director, said that measures where, however, in place to rectify the issues at the earliest possible time.
“This is to inform the general public and most especially our esteemed passengers that due to technical hitches the 08:00hrs train from Ujevwu station will not run from tomorrow Jan.17.
“The 14:15hrs train will, however, continue to run.
“’Be assured that every effort is being made to ensure that this disruption is for a minimal period of time.
“We regret any inconveniences this may cause our esteemed passengers,” he said in the announcement that suspended the 8 am Delta train service.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that inter town train services which have lately been increasingly restored in the country are becoming popular among the populace with passengers using it in the face of increased security concerns along the road.
However, the train services have been criticized for their sometimes irregularity and poor ticketing services.
