The trial of the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu was on Tuesday morning adjourned to Wednesday after he objected to the fresh charges brought against him by the Federal Government. The development came as supporters of Nnamdi Kanu clashed with security operatives outside the court premises.
The Federal Government had earlier brought new charges raising the charges from seven to 15.
The court is now expected to reconvene on Wednesday, January 19, for Nnamdi Kanu to take his plea to the fresh charges.
The Federal Government had filed fresh terrorism charges against the detained leader of the proscribed IPOB leader before the Federal High Court on Monday.
Consequently, the initial seven counts bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism, against him, increased to 15.
But Kanu objected to the fresh charges as his trial resumed on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, before the trial was adjourned, supporters of Nnamdi Kanu outside the court premieses in their large numbers clashed with members of security operatives who were mobilized to the venue.
It was gathered that the supporters of the IPOB leader kept on chanting, “Holy Holy Holy, Nnamdi Kanu is another savious”.
Besides the supporters who were kept at arms length, some journalists and members of the public were also barred from entering the court premises.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Chief Mike Ozekhome had earlier informed that he was taking over the defence of the IPOB leader saying that the charges filed against him were incompetent.
