Delta 2023: Egbo Abandons Guber Plans, Says APC Now One-Man Show

All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain in Delta State, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, has abandoned his 2023 governorship aspiration saying that the APC in the state is now a one-man show that brooks no alternative opinion. He dubbed the APC in Delta as the Alibaba Political Cabal.  

Egbo did not mention any names in lamenting the alleged hijack of the party but GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the APC in the state is split between the mainstream structure inclined towards Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and a rival group of party chieftains now led by Olorogun Festus Keyamo.

The national party has extended recognition to the tendency backed by Omo-Agege.

Egbo’s assertion has, however, been dismissed by the Omo-Agege structure which described him as a long time political aggressor.

Affirming that he would no longer seek the governorship ticket of the party as he planned or any other position in the APC, Egbo lamented that the party has been hijacked by an “arch-facist and anti-democratic fellow.”

In a statement titled: “Why I will no longer vie for the governorship ticket”, Egbo who said he had put his aspired for the position following prayers when he turned 50 in 2019, said:

“My prayer request to the Almighty God was to be governor or the opportunity to play a key role in who will emerge as governor of Delta State come 2023.

“I was then looking forward to be a robust campaign for the governorship ticket of my party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), a veritable platform which I toiled day and night in concert with other progressives to make a platform of choice for Deltans seeking a paradigm shift in the governance of the State.

“The APC in Delta State is now a one man affair that brooks no alternative opinion.”

“All of these goodwill has been frittered away by the monstrous takeover of all party structures and machinery by an arch-Facist and anti-democratic fellow. The APC in Delta State is now a one man affair that brooks no alternative opinion. The party we all worked to build in Delta State has become a new APC, Alibaba Political Cabal which has now rendered the tickets of the original Delta APC as a worthless piece of paper that cannot win any election in Delta State.

“It is therefore my conclusion that it will amount to futile exercise to vie for the governorship or any elective position under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State,” Egbo said.
