Man Sets Blind Brother Ablaze Over Land In Anambra
A visually impaired man, Mmaduabuchi Nnofu, 47, has allegedly been killed and burnt to death by his younger brother, Onyedika Nnofu, over ownership of a piece of land in Anambra state.
According to ABSTV, the incident was said to have occurred on Sunday, January 30th, 2022, at Eziagulu village, Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
A source who spoke to ABSTV, said the prime suspect, Onyedika, brother to the deceased whom he described as someone who never heeds to advice, has been in conflict for long with Mmaduabuchi over a piece of land, and has on several occasions, threatened to kill the victim if he does not steer clear.
A statement by the joint National Association of Persons with Disability (JONAPWD), said, “Our sources told us that Nnofu was at home relaxing when the suspect came in with weapons and killed him before setting him ablaze within the compound. We suspect that he was murdered over a family land that had been duly assigned to him by their late father.
Late Mmaduabuchi, while alive, confided in us that the land in question was willed to him by their late father, who also willed another one behind his to the prime suspect. He also told us that his brother since then had tried all he could to take over the land by force for sale.”
Irate youth attempted to lynch the suspect but were prevented by the intervention of the police.
