200-Level OAU Student Dies After Falling Into Soakaway
Tragedy has struck the Obafemi Awolowo University following the death of a 200-level student.
The tragic incident was confirmed in a statement signed by the OAU spokesman Mr Abiodun Olarenwaju. According to him, the event occurred in a private hostel called BVER, and the student was certified dead on arrival at the hospital.
Excerpts from his statement read, “When the news got to us, we immediately mobilised the firemen from the University, Osun state and the OAU teaching hospital who through concerted efforts got the student out,” OAU’s statement read.
“She was immediately taken to the OAU Teaching Hospitals Complex where she was certified dead.” He said
The OAU Vice-chancellor, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, sympathised with the parents and students of the institution, promising to ensure the death is fully investigated.
