Shehu Sani Calls For Help As Husband Divorces Wife Due To Rape Suspicion

Human rights advocate and ex-senator Shehu Sanni has called on religious leaders to intervene in a case when a man divorced his wife who was abducted by bandits because he suspected she was raped during the kidnap ordeal.

Sen Sani disclosed the case in a post on his Twitter handle (@ShehuSani)

The post reads, “A man from Zaria (name withheld) divorced his wife of twenty years,after she was released by Bandits who kidnapped her along with others,on the ground that he suspected she was raped by the bandits.I call on religious leaders who are aware of this to please intervene.”

In reaction to Shehu Sani’s post, social media users slammed the husband for his decision, while a few backed his action.
