Osun APC: Missing Aregbesola Loses Ward To Oyetola
The vow by Rauf Aregbesola to stop Governor Gboyega Oyetola for a second term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC was on Saturday evening unraveling as the governor won the votes in the minister’s Ward 8, Ifofin, Ilesha East ward in the party primary.
Surprisingly, the minister who had vowed to lead from the front in the anti-Gboyega move was not available to vote. He claimed to have been sent on an emergency assignment by the president.
The leader of loyalists of Aregbesola at Ward 8, Ifofin, Ilesha East, Saheed Adegoke confirmed to newsmen the Minister was not around to vote.
“He told us that he had an assignment from the President,” he stated.
At the end of the count, Aregbesola’s anointed aspirant Moshood Adeoti who served him as Secretary to the State Government when he was governor polled 146 votes to the 309 votes scored by the governor in the ward.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG had earlier reported that Governor Oyetola swept all the votes in his Iragbiji ward with his two rivals, Adeoti and former deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Lasun scoring zero.
The campaign ahead of the primary had been preceded by sharp exchange of words between Aregbesola and the camp of the governor with the minister of interior vowing to stop Oyetola for a second term. Aregbesola, however, has an uphill task given the result from his ward.
