He was released on health grounds—Counsel

But a counsel to Sunday Igboho, Mr Yomi Alliyu, SAN, told Vanguard that he was released to attend to his health in a Beninese hospital.

Alliyu said: “Igboho has not been released, he was only released to be taken to the hospital. The last time we spoke, I told you that we are making arrangements to take care of his health. So, he was released based on health grounds.”

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Sunday Igboho was arrested while making an attempt to board a plane to Germany following his escape from a siege laid to his residence in Ibadan by Nigerian security officials. Before then he had been engaged in several faceoffs with the authorities in Nigeria over his agitation against alleged injustice against the Yoruba.
