Thirty terrorists on Saturday were killed in the North East, Nigeria when fighters from the late Abubakar Shekau’s faction clashed with members of the Islamic State for West African Province, ISWAP in Dikwa local government area of Borno State.

Dikwa is about 100km from Maiduguri the Borno State capital where terrorist organizations had a field day operating unchallenged in the past.

Although there have been reported incidents around villages in Dikwa local government, the activities of the terrorists within the centre have reduced significantly.

Residents of Dikwa, who spoke to newsmen on Tuesday described the violence that erupted between the two rival terrorist organizations as a result of the people’s prayers for Allah’s intervention.

”There have been clashes between the two factions since the death of Shekau. When Albarnawi the leader of the ISWAP was killed, we thought the two factions will stop fighting but violence keeps growing amongst them. The violent ‘fight’, which occurred last Saturday, between them left 30 fighters dead and many others injured. ”
