The national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC was on Tuesday enveloped in further crisis following reports of the resignation of the Secretary of its Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe.

There were no confirmation to this effect but Akpanudoedehe was said to have moved his personal belongings out of his office on Tuesday.

Vanguard reported that although several party officials confirmed that Akpanudoedehe had moved some personal effects from his office, they could not confirm seeing any letter to back his rumoured resignation.

Senator Akpanudoedehe did not also immediately respond to calls seeking his response to his alleged resignation.

There had been speculations that the former Minister of State in the Federal Capital Territory FCT was on his way out of the CECPC.

Akpanudoedehe had earlier attended a meeting of the CECPC presided over by its acting National Chairman and Niger state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello.

He was said to have left the meeting midway. Akpanudoedehe had a close working relationship with the erstwhile chairman of the CECPC, Governor Mala Buni.

Buni was replaced as chairman of the committee on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari. In his place, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has been acting as chairman.

Meanwhile, besides the concern over the reported resignation of Akpanudoedehe, the APC suffered a major blow on Tuesday when a court sitting in Abuja ordered the sack of Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and 16 lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to join the party.
