First pictures of Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho following his release from custody in Benin Republic have emerged.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that Sunday Igboho was released partly to enable him have free access to medical attention. He was released to Yoruba leader Professor Banji Akintoye.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government which had desperately fought to extradite Sunday Igboho back to Nigeria has yet to respond to the release of the Yoruba nation activist.

It would be recalled that security operatives of the government had last July raided the Ibadan residence of Sunday Igboho with the aim of arresting him and bringing him to possible trial over yet to be established charges.

A counsel to Sunday Igboho, Mr Yomi Alliyu, SAN, had on Monday told Vanguard that he was released to attend to his health in a Beninese hospital.

Alliyu said: “Igboho has not been released, he was only released to be taken to the hospital. The last time we spoke, I told you that we are making arrangements to take care of his health. So, he was released based on health grounds.”

It is believed in some sections of the polity that the Federal Government, FG may have been shocked by the release of Sunday Igboho and would as such be taking its time to react to his release which were confirmed by the pictures of him with Akintoye on Monday.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Sunday Igboho was arrested while making an attempt to board a plane to Germany following his escape from a siege laid to his residence in Ibadan by Nigerian security officials. Before then he had been engaged in several faceoffs with the authorities in Nigeria over his agitation against alleged injustice against the Yoruba.
