A governorship aspirant in Plateau, Mr Caleb Mutfwang, says he will reposition the state security architecture if elected.

This, he said he would do by providing enduring  security, capable of making the people go about their businesses without fear.

Mutfwang, a former Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau, made this known in Mangu, where he  formally declared his intention to contest the governorship of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former chairman, who is vying on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that peace and security would be his top priority.

“The top concern of every resident of Plateau today is absence of security, security is therefore going to be my number one priority, because without it, you cannot do anything.

“Therefore, we must rejig the security architecture of the state. I have always being a firm believer of state police, to complement the federal police.

“We are going to ensure that Operation Rainbow is brought back to life and make sure that it is well equipped and well serviced to be able to gather intelligence and nip security threats in the bud”, he said.

He also said: “We are such an endowed state, with abundant natural resources, and luckily, agriculture is number one of them.

“We will change the way we parctise agriculture and give priority attention to dry season farming.

“We will ensure that agriculture moves from a cultural thing to a business that the people will profit from” .

He encouraged Plateau people to unite and bring PDP to power in Plateau and at the national level.

Mutfwang assured Plateau people that he would not disappoint them, either in security or in other areas if given the mandate to lead them in 2023, as their governor.

“I am here today to tell you that I am contesting for the governorship election in 2023.

“I appeal to all the delegates in Plateau to consider my aspiration, for the prosperity of the state.

“We must bring a candidate that will unite Plateau, a candidate that know Plateau very well, a candidate that will bring development in the interest of the people of Plateau.

“I am sure that if you give us the ticket, we will not disappoint you, we will not disappoint Mangu Local Government Area, we will not disappoint Plateau and Nigeria will begin to respect Plateau again”, he said.

The PDP Chairman, Mangu Local Government Area, Mr Ayuba Goje, said that Mutfwang had contributed immensely to the growth and survival of PDP in the state.

Goje described the gubernatorial aspirant  as not only accessible but also approachable.

The chairman said that there were several governorship aspirants from the area and hoped that one should be considered during the party primaries.

Mutfwang campaign leader and former chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Mr Peter  Dung, described the aspirant as both competent and intelligent.

He said Mutfwang had also worked closely with the former governor of Plateau, Sen. Jonah Jang and he hoped that he would continue with the infrastructural development in the state.(NAN)
