Akwa Ibom 2023: Onofiok Luke Vows Purposeful Leadership

Akwa Ibom Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship hopeful, Onofiok Luke has vowed to bequeath purposeful leadership on the state if given the mantle of leadership as governor of the state.

Speaking during an interactive session with members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom chapter on Monday, Luke said his aspiration was premised on his sound knowledge of the state which has put him above other rivals.

“I am not just happening at the political landscape of Akwa Ibom, I have been schooled in the art of governance, hence, I will give you purposeful leadership and governance that will bring value to Akwa Ibom people.

While noting that he had understudied all three governors of the state in the Fourth Republic, Onofiok Luke who is the member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency, in the House of Representatives said:

“We appreciate effort of Obong Victor Attah,  Obong Godswill Akpabio, H. Excellency Udom  Emmanuel. But there is need for the review of the free and compulsory education in this state.

“And that review for me starts with the basic and the foundation of the provision of educational services in our public schools.

We have over the years been planning ,”in the dark”, we have not been planning with statistics.

” And what has given me the foundation to say this?When the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics gives statistics about the state, we’ll be struggling to defend it. But if we had a Statistics Commissíon that has been given us data since creation of the state in 1987, we will only be asking the facts to speaks for themselves”

Responding, the chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Akwa Ibom State Council Comrade Amos Etuk while appreciating the qualities of Luke said the union would give equal opportunities to all aspirants to showcase their intentions to the electorate.
