Breaking: 970 Passengers In Danger As Terrorists Attack Abuja Kaduna Train
The fate of about 970 passengers aboard the Abuja – Kaduna train was hanging in the balance on Monday night following reports of a terrorist attack on the train service.
Some reports alleged that the terrorists immobilised the train after they successfully detonated bombs on the rail track leaving the passengers stranded.
Some news sources said that the attack occurred somewhere between Katari and Rijana. A source disclosed that as the train was stopped that the terrorists completed surrounded the train and were shooting heavily after surrounding the train.
“All the passengers are currently lying on the floor of the train. The bandits are shooting sporadically. We are in serious danger,” said on of the panic-stricken passengers told the Daily Nigerian.
An official disclosed that at least 970 passengers were aboard the train when the terrorists struck.
The news of the attack has started trending on social media. Some of the passengers were able to tweet from within the train coach lamenting their helplessness.
This attack on the Abuja Kaduna train service, if confirmed is bound to further cause unease among the travelling public as it could erode confidence in the train service.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the Nigeria Railyway Corporation which manages the service was recently embarrassed after pictures emerged of a train and its passengers stranded along the Lagos Ibadan route after the diesel in the locomotive ran out.
