Breaking: Abba Kyari To Remain In Detention As Court Turns Down Bail Application
The bid by suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari and two co-accused for bail over the drug allegation levelled against them has been denied by a Federal High Court in Abuja and will remain in detention.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that two Inspectors of Police – Simon Agirgba and John Nuhu – were charged with suspended DCP Abba Kyari on offences of illegal dealing in drugs.
In a ruling on Monday, Justice Emeka Nwite, affirmed that the prosecution has successfully established why bail should not be granted the two defendants.
Justice Nwite further held that having considered the affidavit evidence supplied by parties and proof of evidence, he was convinced that the prosecution has successfully raised reasonable presumption of criminal responsibility on the part of the defendants.
Justice Nwite as such in the two rulings he read on Monday morning as such he declined bail to Kyari, Ubua, Agirgba and Nuhu.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the denial of bail for DCP Abba Kyari could further complicate the situation for his wife who at the last sitting of the court fainted just as her husband was ushered away from court as he will remain in detention for the foreseeable future.
DCP Abba Kyari, a well decorated police officer before he fell into ignominy is also facing charges of money laundering in the United States.
