Leke Adeboye Apologises, Accepts Sanctions Over Goat Pastors’ Comment
Leke, son of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has tendered an unreserved apology to pastors of the church over his recent social media post where he referred to some of them as goats.
He has also accepted the sanctions that the church leadership has recommended against him, though the sanction was not disclosed.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Leke who is also a senior personal assistant to his dad had gone on his social media handle to label pastors who preach a second message after the G.O. had given the central message on the first Sunday of the month as goats.
On Thursday afternoon, Leke Adeboye had gone to his Instagram handle to make an unreserved apology over the issue.
The apology by Leke Adeboye came amid backlashes from members and non-members of the church many of who questioned his action, many on his social media handles.
As the pressure mounted, Leke Adeboye even before making the apology had removed the post, but that did not stop the church from constituting a three man discipline committee to handle the case.
In his apology, Leke Adeboye said:
‘My sincere apology’ reads: “I wish to use this medium to tender my unreserved apologies on the statement made from my social media handle about some of our esteemed Pastors.
“The disciplinary measures taken by the mission is well received and this period will be used to reflect and introspect.
“I wish to crave your indulgence to please forgive my extreme statement which I wish to emphasise was absolutely not intended to insult or malign.
“I also wish to apologise profusely to the entire leadership and Pastors of our beloved Church who might have been hurt by this statement.
“I remain humbly yours in God’s love and mercies. Yours in His service, Leke Adeboye,” said in his apology.
