Popular Nigerian Singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu Passes On
Popular Nigerian gospel musician Osinachi Nwachukwu who won acclaim for her angelic voice and contributions to the popularity of some of current pop gospel hits has passed on, multiple sources affirmed at the weekend.
Well known for her hit track, Ekwueme, Osinachi Nwachukwu died on Friday after reportedly being on life support for about two months. The cause of death was not immediately confirmed.
Besides the hit song, Ekwueme, Osinachi Nwachukwu also helped in popularizing some of the more popular gospel songs in Nigeria through her collaborations with other gospel artistes.
She featured in some popular gospel songs like “Nara Ekele” by Pastor Paul Enenche (Dunamis, Abuja), “Ekwueme” by Prospa Ochimana, and “You no dey use me play” by Emma.
Fleeing Former Female Minister Nabbed At Checkpoint
Meanwhile, besides the news of the passing on of Osinachi Nwachukwu, outside Nigeria, a former Romanian minister convicted of corruption in her country had been arrested in Bulgaria, authorities said on Friday.
Elena Udrea, the former Minister of Regional Development and Tourism of Romania, was detained in a car near the Kulata checkpoint on Bulgaria’s border with Greece.
This followed a European arrest warrant issued by Romanian authorities on Thursday, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry said in a statement.
According to Romanian authorities, the 48-year-old woman was sentenced to six years in prison for corruption.
Udrea committed crimes during her tenure as minister from 2010 to the end of 2011, the statement said.
