Jesus Leads Manchester City Into Half-Time Lead Over Liverpool
By GWG Football Editor
Gabriel Jesus led Manchester City into a 2-1 half term lead in the premiership leadership showdown with Liverpool in an exhilarating first half after he miraculously escaped an off-side trap to convert a Cancelo pass.
Kevin De Bruyne had opened scoring in the fifth minute of the encounter from an assist laid by Bernardo Silva but that goal was quickly cancelled by an undeterred Liverpool by Jota following a measured pass by Alexander-Arnold in the 13th minute.
However, Jesus miraculously escaped an offside trap in the 36th minute from a well laid Cancelo pass to slam home the lead.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the goal from Gabriel Jesus came helped to douse critical review of his performance in the last few months. Gabriel Jesus has not scored a goal in the last 15 matches.
Should the result remain at this point at the end of the second half it would mean that Liverpool would trail Manchester City by four points. It is indeed the first time since the beginning of the present league season that Liverpool has been behind at half-time. Their ability to come out of the break to reverse the lead could make or mar their quest for league glory.
