2023: Cheers, Jeers, Trail Star Boy Osinbajo’s Declaration Video

Social media on Monday morning gave mixed reviews of cheers and jeers to the declaration by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo of his intention to vie for the 2023 presidential election.

The Vice President made his declaration in a short video in which he affirmed that he had been prepared by his experience serving as vice president to President Muhammadu Buhari to lead the nation after 2023.

 “I believe that the very reason why the Almighty God gave me these experiences, these insights and these opportunities, is that they must be put to the use of our country and its great peoples,” Osinbajo said.

Following that, he said:

“I am today, with utmost humility formally declaring my intention to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of APC.”

Reactions to the video have been largely mixed. While many responded with enthusiasm that he is about the best to take over the country at this time, others, however, pigeonholed him to the performance of the outgoing Buhari administration. One critic asked if either his child or those of Buhari’s were in the captivity of kidnpappers roaming the country if he would have been declaring.
