Police Confirm Murder Of Suspected Cultist In Ilorin

The police in Ilorin confirmed the killing of one person by suspected cultists in Ilorin on Monday evening.

The incident occurred at Oja-Gboro junction, at about 7.30pm in the State capital.

According to the spokesman of the Kwara State police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the development in Ilorin on Monday, the unidentified victim was shot in the head.

The State Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Assayomo, has directed that perpetrators of the killing be arrested and prosecuted, assuring the good people of the State of his total disdain for crimes and criminality.

Okasanmi disclosed that the sound of gunshot prompted the racing of policemen on surveillance patrol of the Gambari area of Ilorin metropolis to the scene of the incident.

“At the scene, the body of an unidentified adult was found lying in the pool of his blood, a gunshot injury to his head was observed and the victim was quickly rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH.

“He was confirmed dead after an examination by the doctor on duty,” the spokesman added.

He said, “in a bid to identify the victim, a search on his body was conducted, but nothing was found in his pockets to identify him except some weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.”

Okasanmi said the body had been deposited at the same hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, an aggressive manhunt for the culprits had commenced as ordered by the Commissioner of Police.

The Police Commissioner advised parents and guardians to monitor and warn their children and wards to avoid acts that could truncate their future, as anybody arrested for any act of criminality will be made to suffer the consequences.
