Pogba Unlikely To Play For Manchester United Again, See Why
Paul Pogba may have played his last game for Manchester United after interim manager Ralf Rangnick confirmed he’ll be sidelined for at least four weeks through injury.
Pogba lasted just 10 minutes of United’s crushing 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday night before heading off with a calf problem. The Frenchman was replaced by Jesse Lingard and watched on as Liverpool ran riot at Anfield after Luis Diaz’s early goal.
90min understands that it’s increasingly likely that Pogba will leave the club once his contract expires this summer and it now appears he may have played his last game.
Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday’s trip to Arsenal, Rangnick confirmed the severity of Pogba’s injury and said it’s unlikely the World Cup winner will be fit again before the season ends.
“It is very unlikely that he will play until the end of the season again,” the United boss said. “The doctor told me that it will take four weeks minimum for him to recover and since last game is at end of May I don’t think it’s very likely he will play again.”
The German didn’t expand on Pogba’s injury in any further detail, but did confirm that Scott McTominay, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo are all available for the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
United desperately need to bounce back from the damaging defeat at Liverpool if they are to have any chance of finishing in the top four. The Red Devils, who confirmed the appointment of Erik ten Hag as their new manager from next season, currently sit sixth in the table, three points behind Tottenham and Arsenal – though they have played a game more than the north London duo.
