Police Arrest Man For Impregnating Daughter, Attempting Abortion

The Ondo State Police Command on Saturday said it arrested one man identified as Sunday Udoh for allegedly impregnating his daughter and attempting to procure an abortion for her. 

The man Sunday Udoh was said to have committed the incestuous offence in Ile Oluji town, the headquarters of the Ile-Oluji/Oke Igbo Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said the 38-year-old man was arrested on April 22 at a health centre in the community, where he went to procure an abortion for his daughter’s pregnancy.

It was while he was trying to clear traces of his abominable act that the long arm of the law caught up with him.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO further stated that that case had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the command for further investigation.

“During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect was attempting to procure an abortion for his 15-year-old daughter with whom he had been having sexual intercourse.

“The case is currently being handled by the Gender Office of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Akure.”
