Plot To Rig Anambra PDP Ad-Hoc Delegates Election Frustrated As Stakeholders Hold Panel Hostage

An attempt by a political godfather in Anambra State working along a female political office holder to write the results of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ward delegates election may have been frustrated after stakeholders held the election panel hostage at the state secretariat, Awka.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the cat was let out of the bag when the PDP panel arrived without the original result sheets meant for the election to hold in the 326 wards of Anambra State.

As a source privy to the development said of the plot masterminded by a godfather who reigned during the Dr Chris Ngige era, said:

“Today Sunday, is a watershed in the history of PDP Anambra State and internal democracy in Nigeria, because of how over 2000 stakeholders and members of PDP sitting at PDP secretariat at Awka foiled attempt to criminally and fraudulently write results of 3 man ad-hoc delegates in the 326 wards of Anambra State.

“It started when the National Secretariat of the party via the national organizing, Hon Bature Usman set up of 5 member panel.”

The panel according to the source was handpicked by the political godfather and a female member of the National Assembly purely for the duo to go and write names in Abuja whereas the exercise ought to hold in 326 wards in Anambra State.

The panel with Ahmed Jibrin as Chairman and  Engr Ogbonna Victor Okorie as Secretary reportedly collected the original results sheets in Abuja on Saturday but reportedly left it behind in Abuja and flew down to Anambra with photocopies to conduct the exercise in the 326 wards.

As the source said further:

“When they arrived Awka, with other members of the panel, they decided to hide themselves in an undisclosed hotel. Party stakeholders and members waited patiently from Saturday morning till 6pm in their respective wards and also State party headquarters without seeing any of the members of the 5 man panel from the national headquarters.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission,  INEC also did not see them.

It was gathered that at 6 p.m. on Saturday, the panel chairman called the PDP admin secretary telling him that the exercise had been postponed till Sunday 11.00 a.m.

At the appointed time over 2,000 members and stalwarts of Anambra PDP stormed the state headquarters and waited   calmly and received the 5 man panel.

lt was in the course of argument and discussions on the modalities that the stalwarts demanded for the original results for the conduct of the exercise in the 326 wards.

The Chairman of the panel, told the stalwarts that he left the originals in his hotel room and that he came only with the photocopies. He demanded to go to his hotel to collect the original copies, but the party stalwarts refused.

The stalwarts eventually agreed for his for the police and one of his aides to be allowed to go bring them at his hotel, but after two hours they could not bring them.

It was at that point that he confessed that the original sheets were in Abuja with the political godfather who first came to fame over his role in the abduction of Governor Chris Uba.

As at press time it could not be determined if the PDP election panel had been released from the hostage.
