Alimikhena Warns Oshiomhole, Violence Is Option Of The Weak

Senator Francis Alimikhena has urged members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Edo North not to be pushed into violence following what he claimed as the threats against him by the camp of his rival, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Alimikhena who is bidding for a third term and has Oshiomhole as his major rival for the APC ticket according to reports gave the caution following a controversial remark by a supporter of Oshiomhole who told the senator that he that “he (Senator Francis Alimikhena, should be happy that he has not died in office as a Senator”.

The remark was supposedly made during a visit by Oshiomhole to Alimikhena.

Oshiomhole who served as a two term governor of Edo State between 2008 and 2016 and subsequently as national chairman of the APC up till 2020 is bidding for the APC Senate ticket in Edo North. Alimikhena who has served for two terms is also bidding to return to the Senate with the prospect of vying for the office of Senate President.

But responding to the war of words that has deepened over their rival bid, Senator Alimikhena in a press statement issued by his Media Aide Benjamin Atu described violence as the weapon of the weak saying it is only a united party that can win an election. United, there is nothing we cannot achieve.”

He appealed to all his supporters and APC leaders to remain calm and peaceful in spite of the false and misleading information that has been released by the said visitors.

“I want you all to allow peace to reign. We must not forget the damage that was caused by unguarded utterances in the Edo 2020 election that made APC an opposition Party in the State. We all have the onerous task of making sure that we win Edo North for APC and I am ready to lead the Party to victory in 2023,” the statement from Alimikhena in response to the threat of violence he alleged came from the Oshiomhole camp.
