Confusion over the next political aspiration of the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was heightening on Wednesday following disclosures that he was set to declare for the 2023 presidential race of the party after initially bidding for the Senate.

The assertion of his presidential declaration by his media aide, Victor Oshioke came in the heels of the brutal fight between the former Edo State governor and the incumbent senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Francis Alimkikhena over the APC Edo North Senate ticket.

Oshiomhole had earlier shown indications to vie for the seat leading to an onslaught from the camp of Alimikhena including from some former aides of the former governor.

There were reports in some circles that Oshiomhole had come under pressure to join the race with his media aide confirming that he would make a formal declaration on Wednesday, May 4 at a ceremony in Abuja at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture.

In the statement he said:

“The formal declaration of Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole to contest for the office of President, Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2023 general election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress which was postponed has now been rescheduled, after extensive consultations, to hold as follows:

“We apologise for the short notice and hope that your love for Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole will motivate you to attend, irrespective of any unforseen constraints.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the theme of the Oshiomhole Campaign would be “Restructure The Change 2023.”

However, a month ago when he clocked 70, the former APC national chairman had at a reception declared his interest for the Edo North Senate race with little inkling of a presidential bid.

Speaking at the birthday ceremony at his Iyamoh residence in Etsako West local government area, he said “It is true that for quite sometimes, many of our people have asked me why don’t you contest for the Senate and I said first APC has crisis, let us fix the crisis, let there be convention because you cannot begin to discuss what kind of baby you are going to have when you are not married.”
